Land indicators are becoming important global tools for
policy and advocacy.
The 2030 Agenda places 8 targets and 12 indicators under five SDGs, which are
related to land. Measuring and monitoring land indicators with appropriate
geographic granularity and socio-economic segregation can substantially improve
land governance.
ILDC2018 will
witness release of 1st State of Land Report in India. Land being a
state subject in India, scores around key land indicators presented state-wise
can trigger comparative appreciation, catalyse cross-learning of drivers,
enhance transparency and hence contribute to improved land governance.
State of Land
Report is an attempt to showcase status of land in Indian states around key
land indicators, using already available data from primary and secondary
sources. In the first edition, it compiles and presents works of some
pioneering agencies around some important land indicators viz. Land
litigations (Daksh), Land Conflicts (Land Conflict Watch), Forest Rights (NRMC-RRI),
Land Record Digitization (NCAER-NRMC), Women Land Rights (NRMC-World Bank),
Land acquisition cases (CPR-LRI) and Investment blocking due to land conflict
(ISB-RRI)
